Learning Solidity with The BLOKC at UP Baguio

The BLOKC brought its hands-on blockchain education to the University of the Philippines Baguio on February 15, 2025, hosting a Solidity learning session for eager attendees looking to break into smart contract development.

The workshop walked participants through the fundamentals of Solidity, the primary programming language used to write smart contracts on Ethereum-compatible blockchains. Attendees got a firsthand look at how decentralized applications are built from the ground up — a crucial skill set as the Web3 ecosystem continues to grow across the Philippines and beyond.

The event was made possible through the support of key community partners:

• Core DAO Philippines — champions of the Core blockchain ecosystem in the country
• UPB SILBI — a student organization at UP Baguio fostering innovation and technology literacy
• Junior Blockchain Education Consortium of the Philippines – UP Baguio (JBEC-PH UP Baguio) — a student-led collective dedicated to advancing blockchain education at the university level

This collaboration reflects The BLOKC's commitment to bringing Web3 education directly to Filipino students and communities, especially those in regions outside Metro Manila. By partnering with on-the-ground organizations like SILBI and JBEC-PH, The BLOKC ensures that blockchain learning is accessible, relevant, and community-driven.
