The BLOKC brought blockchain development education to the Adamson University College of Engineering on February 24, 2025, hosting a hands-on session on Solidity Fundamentals led by an industry practitioner.
The workshop featured Mr. Jerome Monte, Co-Founder of Selyo, as the resource speaker. Participants were introduced to Solidity — the primary programming language used for writing smart contracts on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains. The session gave engineering students a foundational understanding of how decentralized applications are built at the code level.
As Web3 continues to grow, smart contract development has become one of the most in-demand skills in the blockchain industry. By learning Solidity, students gain the ability to build trustless, automated programs that run on the blockchain — a critical competency for any aspiring Web3 developer or blockchain engineer.
Mr. Jerome Monte brings real-world experience to the classroom as co-founder of Selyo, giving attendees direct exposure to how blockchain technology is being applied in active projects in the Philippine ecosystem. His presence underscored The BLOKC's commitment to connecting learners with practitioners who are building in the space.
This session is part of The BLOKC's ongoing efforts to bring Web3 education into Philippine academic institutions. By partnering with universities like Adamson, The BLOKC aims to equip the next generation of Filipino engineers and developers with the knowledge and skills needed to participate in — and lead — the global blockchain revolution.
